Session 39 : Death and Bones
All right, the wolf has won the pack, in a kind of unfair way, but who cares. All of them cheer and pat the back of the winner as it should be. Perhaps the half orc would not have approved, but probably that’s why he is dead. Life isn’t fair after all, and death, is just closing the eyes to never open them again. Not a big deal.
Silenzo followed Serenity, the only righteous character in the party, to the wolves' caves. She wanted to find Hoskgak's bones and save some kids, if by "saving" one understands dropping them on a starving town that barely holds together. From behind, Silenzo was quite pleased watching Serenity navigating a pile of bones and trying to form Hoskgak from them. Impressively she managed to get almost the right bones together, there were a few more femurs than there should have been, but mostly 90 percent of the half orc was there. To his amusement he jumped in and with a serious voice and face pieced together a nice skeleton. All the right bones were replaced by other bones, but he let Serenity have Hoskgak's skull. That was the only piece of the true Hoskgak in that meaningless pile of collagen, calcium and phosphate. Topping up the icing, Serenity appeared to greatly appreciate Silenzo's help. As she moved on to address the kids, SIlenzo turned around to cover a smirk.
Who wants to go home? Serenity said to the kids. As she was developing the wonders and elevating herself as saviour of the lost kids, Silenzo approached one of them with a Hoskgak bone in his hand. He looked into the kid's eyes and said, "Did you ever think you will die like this? Having your bones scattered in a cave?". The kid lowered his head and started crying. SIlenzo lost interest and went out of the cave, tossing the bone aside as he headed out. Serenity emerged from the wolf den with only one kid. Probably her charisma was nothing to write home about.
Back at Krezk, Silenzo let the party go on ahead to the house as he went to pay a visit to the lazy blacksmith. Last time the lazy fool ran away to call the guards as he was too lazy to work for good money, this time he will have no choice. Sneaking up behind the Blacksmith as he was working, Silenzo jabbed his finger into his lower back. The blacksmith jumped up in surprise, asking for an explanation. Paying a bit of silver and a little talk, Silenzo managed to convince the Blacksmith to create 10 more silver arrows. After he had his meditation, Silenzo even brought some hot water with herbs to him. What a lazy guy, he didn’t want to work and wanted to run home to his family. He was probably certain that there weren’t that many job opportunities around. But for sure, there were even less opportunities to spend the money earned in a place like this.
Once the kid was left at Krezk, probably to die sooner than had they been left with the wolf pack, the party headed to find a merchant and then Rictavio. The merchant didn’t show up, so Rictavio was all that was left for the day.
Serenity was noticeably irritated by Rictavio poisoning Ireena. The old man had a point. Strahd was more active with her around than without her, so it was worth the chance. In the end, it was just one death. It was quite interesting how she approached the old man at the beginning, but noticing how he didn’t retaliate, she grew stronger. Quite a bully, that cat, to be so righteous. Once the whole act was done, Silenzo approached the old man, he just wanted to get some more tools and that poison was a good start. One never has enough ways to kill. After a nice conversation with Rictavio, he gave to Silenzo his poison vials. Who knows, perhaps it does make sense to kill the girl to get out of there. Not everybody can be saved, and that girl wasn’t any different to the rest. Just another Barovian casualty.
