Session 27 : Kenny

Destiny performs the now very familiar hour long ritual to bring Watch back into existence.

Poof, there he is, cross armed and his cheeks redder than normal. Perhaps it's his expression, perhaps it's his posture, but he looks different to Destiny, somehow with more stature than before.

"Watch, you look... different."

Watch ignores Destiny.

"It's strange," Destiny continues, "perhaps Watch was not quite the right name for you. You strike me more as a... a Kenny. Yes, Kenny I think."

Watch ignores Destiny.

"No more chatty, let's go finish this", said Hoskgak impatiently.

It was said that the Heroes of Barovia descended to the Fidatov's family crypt that night to confront the ghosts that haunted it. But little was known about what actually happened that night despite the discovery of some first hand accounts. We do know that the party was joined by a certain "Kenny" who met an untimely end. We also know that the heroes defeated the ghosts, banished the curse and the Fidatovs were able to supply Krezk with the food they needed.

Except, dear reader, I know what truly happened. Don't ask me how I know. Perhaps I was there, perhaps I was not. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you know the truth and judge for yourself who amongst this legendary group was truly a hero and who had more credit than she deserved.

So let us begin, at the entrance of the crypt. There stood our heroes Serenity, Hoskgak, Destiny and of course Watch. It's a lesser known fact that Watch was an integral part of this group... but I digress.

Our fearless heroes descended down the stairs of the crypt only to find it was haunted by a wandering Banshee guarding over the Fidatov's treasure horde. Both Hoskgak and Serenity stormed through and engaged with this ethereal being, but they were soon surrounded by undead skeletons and wights.

At the sight of this, Serenity ran from the room in fear, quickly followed by Destiny. And guess what, they shut the door behind them. That's right, not only did these so call heroes leave their companions at the first sign of trouble, they were so cowardly that they shut the door behind them!

Oh, but that's not all, the legendary Destiny of Hope didn't take her Imp with her. Instead she commanded him to stay in the room to fight on her behalf!

So there the Imp stayed, battling alongside the brave and powerful Hoskgak. Slaying undead after undead as they kept coming. Yet somehow Hoskgak was barely hit. His ungodly skill with the great sword was a sight to behold. He survived that night... he killed the foes and broke the curse of the Fidatovs. But the poor Imp... brave as he was, was overcome by the powerful magic of the Banshee. He gave his life that day to ensure Hoskgak could live on.

And what was the first thing Destiny did when Hoskgak slayed the Banshee? She ran back into the room to search the treasure for a certain tiara she liked!

That, my dear readers, was what really happened. Judge for yourself.

Sitting outside the Fidatov's house, Destiny got her diary out to write down the events of the day. She felt it was important to record the important stuff so that the story of the Heroes of Barovia would be known well after their life time.

But how to summarise the day... Destiny thought long and hard... and wrote...

"Oh my god, they killed Kenny!"
