Session 11 : Rock and a hard place
62 died that day. Father Lucian and the young Millivoj among them.
The party eventually found each other and took refuge at the inn. Even Ireena managed to escape.
The next day they were summoned by the Baron, who informed them that the town demanded an answer as to who brought in these vampires. He gave the party a stark choice : find evidence to pin this on Lady Wacther and thereby help him remove a political enemy. Or the blame would go to them, and they would be hung for it.
They had until the evening.
Upon visiting Lady Wachter, she gave them a counter offer. Kill, or otherwise take out of action, Izek, the fearsome captain of the guard with his demonic arm; so she could launch a coup against the Baron. Under her rule Vallaki would recognise Count Strahd as the rightful ruler of Barovia.
They had until the evening.

It’s mid-morning. The party is standing outside Lady Wachter’s mansion debating what they should do.
But Destiny is not listening. She’s thinking...
Money. It’s quite a useful thing. Strange that she has never realised that before. Money can buy Hoskgak armour and Serenity good weapons. More importantly, money can buy potions of the healing kind, without which, neither Hoskgak nor Serenity would be standing here right now and without her trusty companions, Destiny would have died twice yesterday.
Money. How exactly do you get more money? Back in Twilight Lagoon you earned money through selling crops at the market, but here they have no crops, nothing of value to sell. Perhaps...
“Mistress, I think I found a door, but it’s disguised. Looks like you are right, this Lady Wachter has something to hide.” Destiny hears Watch’s telepathic voice.
She has almost forgotten that she sent Watch to search Lady Wachter’s house and it seems he has found a secret door to an upstairs room.
“Ok, stay invisible and don’t open the door. Let me check with Hoskgak and Serenity what to do.”
It isn't easy to find a solution out of this situation. Perhaps there is no right answer, but eventually they agree.
Yes, this could work.
“Hey, Watch, listen, it’s clear that both the Baron and Wachter want us to pick their side, but we don’t want to pick the wrong side and ideally we do things on our terms. Problem is that we don’t know enough yet about either of them, so we will need your help in this.”
She explains the plan to Watch.
“Er, mistress, I wholeheartedly object to this plan!”
“Why? It’s the best plan!”
“Yeah, for you! For me it’s a lot of sneaking around in unknown and potentially dangerous places..."
“Watch, someone is coming. We’ll have to talk later, over and out!”
